Day 1: Nouakchott, Mauritania
Arrive Nouakchott; meet one of our guides and transfer to Hotel.

Day 2: Nouakchott – Atar – Chinguetti
In the morning, we shall embark on a journey towards Chingeutti, passing through the bustling city of Akjoujet, renowned as the second mining hub after Zouerat. Our voyage will pause for a delightful lunch amidst the enchanting Akjoujt caves. Following this, we shall continue our expedition, bound for the vibrant market of Atar. Subsequently, our path will lead us to Chinguiti, where we anticipate arriving just in time to witness an awe-inspiring sunset from the towering dunes of Iguitti.
Day 3: Chinguetti – Tenewchert – Eye of the sahara -- Ouadane
After indulging in a sumptuous breakfast, our first stop will be the ancient city of Chinguetti, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, we will marvel at the intricate architecture of the old mosque and peruse the library, where ancient Arab manuscripts await to impart their timeless wisdom upon us. Continuing our journey, we will traverse towards the picturesque oasis of Tenouchert, where we shall partake in a delightful lunch amidst the nomads, gaining insight into their fascinating way of life. Our next destination takes us through the desert to the majestic Eye of the Sahara, where we will pause to behold this natural wonder in all its glory. Subsequently, we shall venture onwards to the ancient city of Ouadane, another UNESCO World Heritage site, where the echoes of history resonate through its storied streets. As the day draws to a close, we shall ascend to the highest vantage point in Ouadane, witnessing a breathtaking sunset that crowns our journey with a mesmerizing finale.
Day 4: Ouadane – Passe D’Amogjar – Terjit
The Passe d’Amogjar is a beautiful canyon, where we will see some amazing prehistoric paintings and the “Fort Saganne”, built by the French. After a short visit of Atar we will make our way into the desert along a picturesque track to Terjit, at the foot of the Mauritania’s mountain range, where an oasis with thermal springs and marvelous pools awaits us for bathing.

Day 5: Terjit – Nouakchott
We shall journey onwards to Nouakchott, where the afternoon holds promises of cultural exploration. Our first stop will be the illustrious museum of Nouakchott, a treasure trove of history and heritage. Here, one can delve into the rich tapestry of Mauritanian history, tracing its intricate threads from ancient civilizations to modern times.
Following our museum visit, we shall venture to the lively Camel market, a vibrant hub of trade and tradition. Here, amidst the bustling activity and melodious calls of traders, one can witness the age-old tradition of camel trading, a cornerstone of Mauritanian commerce and culture.
Our final destination for the day is the enchanting craft industry, where artisans showcase their skill and creativity in a dazzling array of handmade treasures. For those seeking mementos of their journey or unique souvenirs, the craft industry offers a captivating array of artifacts and keepsakes, each imbued with the spirit of Mauritania’s rich cultural heritage.
Day 6: Nouakchott – Touilit – Banc D’Arguin – Nouakchott
Depart to Banc d’Arguin, one of the most important natural parks in the world for migratory birds. The park stretches along approximately 125 miles of coastline and includes several islands. We will visit the park and sail with the Imragen, a community of fishermen, in their rudimentary sailboats. Depending on the time of year, we will see how they fish aided by dolphins. We will also observe the different flocks of birds that populate these islands, in the afternoon we depart to Nouakchott.

Day 7: Nouakchott – Depart
In the morning, we will explore the bustling fish market of Nouakchott, where the sights and sounds of fishermen bringing in their daily catch create a vibrant atmosphere. Here, amidst the colorful array of freshly caught seafood, one can immerse themselves in the local maritime culture and witness the lively exchange of goods.
After our visit to the fish market, there will be ample time to enjoy a refreshing swim in the Atlantic Ocean, allowing for a moment of relaxation and rejuvenation amidst the natural beauty of the coastline.
As night falls, you will be gracefully escorted to the airport for your onward flight, bidding farewell to the enchanting sights and experiences of Mauritania, with memories of the fish market and the Atlantic Ocean lingering as cherished highlights of your journey.

Important Things Bring
If you have specific medication that you take, please bring enough of that medication with you and ensure it is in your carry-on in case of lost luggage. Sometimes it is hard to find certain medication in Mauritania, unless you have time to order them and wait a few days for them to arrive. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure you have those medications with you.
- A flashlight is important for walking around at night in the desert or elsewhere.
- A lighter is essential for burning trash in the desert, such as toilet paper, to avoid pollution.
- A reusable water jug to store your mineral water in, to avoid the use of several plastic water bottles and reduce pollution.
- Bank cards that work in Mauritania are MasterCard and Visa. ATMs are only available in Nouakchott. So, if you plan to buy souvenirs, make sure to exchange some cash or use the ATM in Nouakchott before entering the country.
