Your Itinerary

After breakfast, at 7:30 AM, drive from Nouakchott in the direction of the old town of Chinguetti, situated in the heart of the Adrar region. Enjoy the scenery as you go, with breathtaking landscapes, and feel free to stop for pictures anytime. On the way, stop at the canyon of Amogjar (after a 5-hour drive mostly on paved roads and passing through the town of Atar for a lunch break). Here, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the canyon as you drink our welcome drink, the famous Mauritanian tea, prepared in front of you by your team. Additionally, indulge in a delicious meal freshly made by your team, and explore the canyon and its ancient rock paintings. Then drive for one more hour to finally arrive at the big dunes of Chinguetti just in time for a breathtaking sunset over the old town. Dinner and night at your guesthouse in Chinguetti called Auberge des Caravanes. This day's visit is about 8 hours long, including stops and exploration time.

Amogjar, with its 5000-year-old history, offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. As you explore the canyon and its ancient rock paintings, you will be transported back in time, marveling at the ancient art and the stories it tells of civilizations long gone.

After breakfast, embark on a journey to the ancient city of Chinguetti, renowned for its rich history and cultural significance. Explore the old city and its remarkable library of ancient manuscripts, a testament to its intellectual heritage. Then, continue your adventure towards the ancient city of Ouadane, traversing the mesmerizing desert landscapes along the ancient caravan route. As you pass by the nomadic oasis of Tenouchert, immerse yourself in the unique lifestyle of the nomads, sharing lunch and gaining insight into their way of life.Upon arrival in Ouadane, delve into the historical treasures of this UNESCO World Heritage city. Wander through its ancient streets, adorned with centuries-old architecture and steeped in tales of bygone eras. Finally, retire to your guest house, the Auberge called Vasque chez Zaida or similar, where you can savor a delicious dinner amidst the tranquil ambiance of the desert surroundings.

After breakfast, then drive to the oasis of Mheirith, the largest oasis in the Adrar region (the drive is about 2.5 hours). Have a tea break and visit the natural water pools of Mheirith, surrounded by green mountains and sand dunes landscapes. Then, drive for 30 more minutes to arrive at the famous oasis of Terjit with its natural running warm and cold water. Have lunch at the oasis, then continue to the big, beautiful, and famous dunes of Azouga.

Passing through the breathtaking landscapes of the white valley and landscapes similar to those of planet Mars, climb the dunes to see the beautiful panorama from the top. In the meantime, your team will set up the camp under the dune. Dinner and night camping.

After breakfast, drive back to Nouakchott for about a 4-hour journey. Upon arrival, visit the Camel Market to experience the vibrant trading scene and learn about the significance of camels in Mauritanian culture. Next, head to the Fish Market by the beach to observe the daily activities of fishermen and seafood vendors while enjoying the lively and colorful atmosphere.
Afterward, have a relaxed lunch by the sea and spend some time unwinding at the beach. Finally, transfer to the hotel for a quick shower and prepare for departure. Later, transfer to the airport. End of the program.

What are the Visa requirements for Mauritania?

Mauritania’s visa used to be available on arrival, but it must now be obtained online. You can apply for it at https://Anrpts.gov.mr.
The visa Is typically processed within three working days. If you do not receive an email notification, do not be frustrated—you can return to the website and enter your application details to check the status. Approval is highly likely.
To make your journey hassle-free, we will apply for the visa on your behalf when you travel with us. However, the e-Visa payment (55 Euros or 60 Dollars) will still be paid by you upon arrival.

The best time to visit Mauritania is from November to May, when the weather is cooler and drier, making it ideal for travel and outdoor activities. During these months, daytime temperatures typically range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), providing a more comfortable climate for exploration.

For Mauritania, vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever (if arriving from a Yellow Fever endemic area) are recommended. Payment Options and Timelines:

When booking a trip with us, we make reservations on your behalf. To secure the booking, we require a 45% prepayment upon confirming the tour. The remaining 55% is due on or before the first day of the tour.

Cancellation Policy:

– If cancellation is made at least 25 days before the tour starts, we will refund 22.5% of the total tour cost (half of the prepayment).
– If cancellation is made within 25 days of the tour start date, the tour can be rescheduled without any loss of payment. However, if cancellation is necessary, we cannot refund the 45% prepayment as we have already booked services on your behalf.
