Your Itinerary

Day 1 :
Nouakchott

Arrival at your convenience in Nouakchott the capital city of Mauritania. One of our guides will provide a pick up from the airport to your conformable hotel to spend a night.

After breakfast at your hotel, depart for Terjit Oasis within the Sahara Desert. Feel free to stop anytime during your journey to take pictures of the picturesque landscapes around you. After a lunch break at a camp in Terjit Oasis, you will drive into Chinguetti via the city of Atar. You will arrive in time to watch the most astonishing sunset from the huge dunes of Chinguetti. Then, you can enjoy local nomadic music in Chinguetti. After dinner, watch a dance performed by women nomads.

After breakfast, embark on a drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chinguetti, a revered city in Islam. Explore its library and various historical monuments, including the iconic Friday Mosque of Chinguetti, a symbol of national pride for Mauritania. Along the way, make a stop at Amougjar to marvel at prehistoric paintings dating back 5000 years. As you continue your journey, pass by the enchanting oasis of Azougui, where you can indulge in a refreshing tea break if time permits.

Day 4 :
Nouadhibou

The train arrives in Nouadhibou, Mauritania's second city, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Upon arrival, proceed to the hotel for a refreshing shower and some rest before embarking on a city exploration. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in town, then make your way to Cabano Beach for relaxation and to soak in the beauty of the sea. Here, marvel at the skeletal remains of the largest fish ever caught in Mauritania.

After breakfast at your hotel, prepare for a lengthy 480 km drive. Along the way, make stops for breaks and photo opportunities to capture the stunning scenery. Upon arrival in Nouakchott, depending on availability, visit the museum and the fish market. In the evenings, witness the arrival of fishermen bringing in their daily catch on their distinct sea canoes, identifiable by their colorful hand-painted hulls. Take some time to immerse yourself in the lifestyle of the fishermen and explore their surroundings.

In the morning, we will visit the markets and the museum, after lunch there will be enough time for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean and a visit to the bustling fishing port, at night transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

What are the Visa requirements for Mauritania?

Mauritania’s visa used to be available on arrival, but it must now be obtained online. You can apply for it at https://Anrpts.gov.mr.
The visa Is typically processed within three working days. If you do not receive an email notification, do not be frustrated—you can return to the website and enter your application details to check the status. Approval is highly likely.
To make your journey hassle-free, we will apply for the visa on your behalf when you travel with us. However, the e-Visa payment (55 Euros or 60 Dollars) will still be paid by you upon arrival.

The best time to visit Mauritania is from November to May, when the weather is cooler and drier, making it ideal for travel and outdoor activities. During these months, daytime temperatures typically range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), providing a more comfortable climate for exploration.

For Mauritania, vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever (if arriving from a Yellow Fever endemic area) are recommended. If you take specific medications, be sure to bring enough for your trip and keep them in your carry-on in case your luggage gets lost. Payment Options and Timelines:

When booking a trip with us, we make reservations on your behalf. To secure the booking, we require a 45% prepayment upon confirming the tour. The remaining 55% is due on or before the first day of the tour.

Cancellation Policy:

– If cancellation is made at least 25 days before the tour starts, we will refund 22.5% of the total tour cost (half of the prepayment).
– If cancellation is made within 25 days of the tour start date, the tour can be rescheduled without any loss of payment. However, if cancellation is necessary, we cannot refund the 45% prepayment as we have already booked services on your behalf.
